iBalance Medical: An Orthopedic Alternative

iBalance, Inc. is developing an alternative to total knee replacement surgery. The answer…the company’s proprietary Axial Knee Realignment technology, it is an implantable guidance and support device. The patient benefits are fourfold: pain relief, restoration of function, return to full physical activity, and improved tissue regeneration. iBalance recently closed on their $8.24 million Series A led by silicon valley based Sutter Hill Ventures and nearby Skyline Ventures.

What is spectacular about this particular financing was that there was no local lead VC, thereby demonstrating the attractiveness of investable Colorado start-ups to the broader investment community. Slowly but surely the coasts are begining to recognize the pipeline of value in the Rocky Mountains.
